Why I hate LiveJournal
Okay, not really. I think this LiveJournal thing is quite cool. It is a damn shame, then, that I spent all weekend several seasons ago installing MovableType on the system in my basement. MT was like the umpteenth weblogging system I had installed and tried and, damn it, it was going to work. Actually, that's not quite true ... it worked more than a little bit, it worked well and that was a lot better than any of the other journaling softwares I had run accross to that point. Of course, MT also happens to be written in perl and has a MySQL database on the back end and can support multiple weblogs via one installation and can be customized by the end user through the web browser ... sound familiar? Well, about a week later I got an email from someone who shall remain nameless that a LiveJournal had begun documenting his thoughts. And a year later another friend went overseas and started a LiveJournal as a means of keeping us abreast of the situation with her.

So now I read several journals with some regularity and I often leave comments. But until today I had to do so as "anonymous" and being the solstice, I thought it high time to put a stop to all that business.
